Sulfur Analyzer ASTM D4294

Sulfur Analyzer ASTM D4294

BACKGROUND

One of the laboratory equipments is Sulfur Analyzer ASTM D4294 Recent international trends for the majority of fuels have focused on lowering the specification for total sulfur. These regulatory changes respond to public health and environmental concerns. Examples include:

The International Maritime Organization announces that MARPOL Annex VI, a regulation to control air emissions from ships, will reduce the overall sulfur content limit of fuel oil used on board ships from 3.5% by weight to 0, 5% by January 1, 2020.

In India, all diesel and gasoline engines were moved to Bharat IV with a sulfur cap of 50 ppm in April 2017. Jet fuel specifications such as ASTM D1655 and D6615 require a maximum sulfur limit of 3000 ppm.

ABSTRACT

Petra MAX™ provides advanced sulfur analysis D4294 plus 12 elements P to Zn including Ni, V and Fe. This solid surface analyzer meets ASTM D4294 and ISO 8754 standards for the measurement of sulfur in hydrocarbons. The Petra MAX is powered by HDXRF, using patented XOS curved crystal optics coupled with a high-performance silicon drift detector and an intense monochromatic excitation beam. This advanced technology reduces background noise and increases signal-to-noise output, enabling low detection limits and high accuracy without the need for consumable helium gas, a vacuum pump, or sample preparation range.
