Including laboratory equipment used in water and wastewater laboratories. EC / Resistivity waterproof has a specialized four-loop conduction probe HI763123. The probe allows measurements with a maximum resolution of 0.001 μS / cm and has a screw thread that allows the probe to enter the HI605453 stainless steel flow cell.

The conductivity probe has an internal temperature sensor with adjustable temperature coefficient for accurate reading in the full temperature measurement range. Four-loop technology prevents common polarization effects in bipolar versions. The waterproof Quick DIN connector provides a connection between the probe and the meter that is easy to remove but secure.

Due to the ability of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) to diffuse in water and form carbonic acid (H 2 CO 3 ), it is very difficult to obtain high-purity water, which is required for example in power generation, semiconductor manufacturing and other industries measure. Carbonic acid dissociates into hydrogen ions (H ) and hydrogen carbonate ions (HCO ). These ions ensure increased water conductivity and lower resistance. To ensure an accurate measurement, it must be performed in running water. For optimal results with the HI98197 conductivity meter, the four ring probe can be bolted to the stainless steel flow cell. The flow cell is connected to the water sample to determine conductivity or resistivity as required. The HI98197 is therefore the ideal instrument to monitor the operation of a production plant for ultra-pure water with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ*cm at 25°C.

Extended Measuring Ranges – The HI98197 has an extended measuring range from 0.000 μS/cm to 1000 mS/cm effective conductivity (400 mS/cm with temperature compensation). The HI98197 includes measurement ranges for total dissolved solids (TDS), resistivity, and three scales for salinity. The device automatically recognizes the probe type (two or four ring) and allows the nominal cell constant to be set.


USP <645> – The HI98197 can be used to measure all three levels of the USP <645> Ultrapure Water specification. If the requirements of a level are met, a corresponding report is generated.

Five Point Calibration – Calibration can be performed at up to five points. A selection of seven stored standards is available for this. When measuring salinity with the % NaCl scale, the HI7037 NaCl Calibration Solution can be used as a reference.

Temperature Compensation – Conductivity and TDS measurements are fully customizable and include a choice of cell constants between 0.0 and 10.000 and the ability to set linear, non-linear or no temperature compensation. The temperature coefficient can be set from 0.00 to 10.00%/°C with a reference temperature of 15°C, 20°C or 25°C.

TDS Conversion Factor – The TDS conversion factor is adjustable from 0.40 to 1.00

User Profiles – The HI98197 allows the setup of ten user profiles with different measurement settings including temperature compensation, measurement range, cell constant and TDS conversion factor.

Memory – On-demand data logging allows storage of up to 400 measurements. With set intervals, up to 1000 automatic measurements can be stored. You can transfer this data to a PC using the HI920015 micro USB cable and Hanna Instruments HI92000 software.

Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) – GLP data includes date, time, standards used, temperature compensation used, reference temperature, and the TDS conversion factor. This data can be viewed directly via the GLP button.

Context Sensitive Help – At any time you can press the Help button for context specific information depending on the screen you are viewing.

LCD – The high-contrast, backlit LCD ensures easy operation in both bright sunlight and less-lit areas. A combination of dedicated and virtual buttons enables simple, intuitive operation in different languages.

Custom-Molded Carrying Case – The compact, durable HI720197 carrying case is specially shaped to hold all the necessary components, including the meter, probe, beakers and calibration standards, for storage and portability.
